Trash and recyclable collection is on Monday mornings.
If Sunday or Monday is an observed holiday, the pick up will normally be on the following Tuesday. Observed holidays are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. All garbage and recycling should be placed at the curbside by 6:00 am. All garbage cans should be removed from the curb and stored out of sight on the same day as pick up. Please make arrangements for someone to take in your garbage can if you will be away on pick up day.
Grass clippings and shrub trimmings should be piled on the asphalt near the curb so the claw on the truck can reach without scaping the curb. No other trash should be thrown in or the Waste Dept may refuse to pick it up. Yard trash is normally picked up on Thursdays, but workload and holidays may affect the schedule.
There is an additional pick up on Friday mornings for bulky household items such as boxes, small furniture items, etc. No garbage containing food or household waste is allowed in the Friday pick up. Items must be placed at the street and easily identifiable as trash.
Please participate in Scottsboro's new recycling program. Recycle guidelines can be found at cityofscottsboro.com/departments/solid-waste/. Recycle bags are available at city hall. For more information, call the Scottsboro Solid Waste Dept at (256) 259-5548.
Annual dues ($600) are due by the end of December. Send check to Don Traut, Treasurer, 1380 Peninsula Dr.
